Rocketed to victory
Lunar Probe, a close relation lof the high-class mare, Chantal, gave the other two-year.olds a sound beating tn the 110,000 Wakefield Challenge Stakes at Trentham on Saturday.
Lunar Probe brilliantly sustained a big run he had started from the tail-end group, and won running awav by three lengths from the Hastingstrained Sousa.
Lunar Probe is raced by Mr and Mrs K. M. Davies from the powerful Sanders stable at Te Awamutu.
He is bv Ring Round the Moon from Major Effort, a half-sister (bv the Derby winner Mid-day Sun to Chantal and another good winner in Our Fun.
Lunar Probe was the third favourite. Forecast, the each-way favourite, ran in under pressure entering the straight, causing slight crowding to Shahbanou.
Forecast finished a well-beaten sixth and Shahbanou was seventh.
Silver Strike. the sixth favourite, got his tongue over the bit and hung badly, finishing twelfth.
