Cook Strait attempt
; John Coutts had never ’been in the water longer [than four hours before he land his manager, Ivan Willson, decided to take on the ■ double crossing of Cook ■ Strait. ! For six days last month 'they and their support team ■ were at Makara waiting for 'the tide and the weather to be right. Then, relying on John’s speed through the water, they’ set out to attempt a double crossing of the strait.
A TVI film crew was with them through these days of expectation, recording the trials and tribulations of preparation. “Twice Is Too Much,” which tells Coutts’s story, screens on TVI tonight.
