‘Miss N.Z.’ still in London
“Miss New Zealand,” Miss Anne Clifford, of Christchurch, will not attend the “Queen of the Pacific” contest in Melbourne early next month. Miss Clifford is still in London. She has asked to be released from the contest because she has further engagements in Britain and in Europe. “Miss Manawatu." Donna Schultze, aged 20, will represent New Zealand at the contest.
The "Miss New Zealand” Foundation agreed to release Miss Clifford, as Miss Schultze was able to attend,
the Press Association reports. The Melbourne contest is part of the popular Moomba Festival, which attracts thousands of people during a two to three week period. Miss Schultze, runner-up in the “Miss New Zealand” contest last year, will leave for Melbourne on Sunday, February 27. She will fly from Auckland with contestants from. California, Canada, and Hawaii. “It was certainly a surprise when I was asked to attend, and I am looking forward to the experience,” Miss Schultze said.
