Horse entries increase
Entries for tomorrow's Kaikoura A and P Association 66th Annual Show increased in the horse and pony sections, but the cattle section and most others dropped considerably.
A new section this year for Friesian pedigree cattle attracted 42 entries and the section for donkeys, which was introduced for the first time last year, has 22 entries — an increase of three.
Cooking and sewing entries are well down on last year, while those in the art and photography sections also show a decrease.
In the trade section there is a well supported entry of farm machinery and trade vehicles and an added attraction will be the display Of vintage cars and farm motor-cycles. Entry numbers this year are (last year’s in brackets): Sheep 78 (93); light horses 283 (254); ponies 446 (415); jumps 157 (168); cattle 92 (110); pigs 6 (13); cookery 101 (200); jams and pickles 32 (62): sewing 82 (170); art 42 (55); photography 129 (151); donkeys 22 (19).
