Ugandan atrocities
Sir, —At last we see organisations like Corso and various church leaders, condemning the presumed murder of the Anglican Bishop of Uganda and two Cabinet Ministers in a supposed car accident after they had been accused of assisting the overthrow of the Amin dictatorship. The terror and atrocities inflicted on many thousands of citizens in **ganda are a blot on the meek, uninterest of Western
nations which, for six years, have stood by and hardly raised a word of protest, even in the United Nations. It will be a great credit to New Zealand if it can awaken the consciences of other Western nations and bring pressure on Uganda to stop such human suffering. Corso and the churches waited six years until one of their own was murdered before condemning such human suffering, yet they condemned South Africa for far less.—Yours, etc..
