Surf ski wins ocean race
. Almost as tradition dictates, a I ski rider on Sunday, won the nineteenth annual ocean race, from Taylor's Mistake to Sumner, for surf life-saving craft. Mark Ramsay, from the Spencer Park Club, beat by ssec the [Taylor’s Mistake veteran. Darryl Neate. But his feat was almost overshadowed by the effort of the 1 New Brighton junior boat crew, [which took the fastest time : honours by 15sec from the fax - I ourites, Geoff Walker and Phil Davies, riding a double-ski for I Waimairi. For a little bit of a change, vessels figured quite prominently j in the major results. After Ram'say and Neate, there were five i canoes, two of them crewed by ! juniors, and David Conder’s long /board and the next skis were down in eighth place and lower. Results: — ' M.
