Takeover inquiry
The Commerce Commission is seeking submissions from interested parties in its inquiry into conditions governing merger and takeover proposals within -cer-
tain industrial groups. The commission has been instructed by the Minister of Trade and industry that its
inquiry should cover both prior and post notification ot [mergers and take-overs and iit is also required to make 'other recommendations on [criteria and classes of merI gers. I “This piece of legislation can obviously have very farreaching effects,” said the chairman of the commission (Mr B. Bornhaldt). Submissions must be registered with the commission by March 11: the commission hopes to start holding hearings within two months of that date.
