Interest in arms sale
PA . Wellington One of the biggest collections of antique arms in New Zealand will be auctioned in Wellington on Friday and Saturday. The auction has atiracted world-wide interest, and apart from the large number of buyers and collectors attending from Australia and America, the auctioneers have received more than [535,000 worth of postal bids [from America, Europe, Britain and Australia.
Dunbar Sloane, Ltd, are acting on behalf of the Montague C. Ongley estate and it is expected that more than $150,000 will be realised.
One pair of boxed duelling pistols is. expected to bring at least $3500. Probably the oldest pistols in the auction, they are 26-bore flintlock duelling pistols made in London about 1750.
