Two double yacht wins
Two skippers, Alan Archer i and Dennis Matheson, gained! line and handicap doubles when the Banks Peninsula! Cruising Club held races to: Pigeon Bay and return during the week-end. Archer was at the helm of Imp when it won the first division event, and stayed ahead on corrected times, in light and variable breezes on Saturday. The course, of about 24 kilometres, included a mark in Sumner Bay and some of the later finishers took more than eight hours to reach Pigeon Bay. Sailing Main Royal, Matheson gained his double success in the second division on Sunday, a direct race from Pigeon Bay to Lyttelton, about 18 kilometres. The dying overnight southerly aided the ear-
