J.C. yacht wins trophy
M. McDonald and J. Wyles. sailing the J.C. class yacht. Enigma, xvon the prestigious' Pegasus Bay Trophy when the Christchurch Yacht Club completed its annual regatta programme on Sumner Bax on Sunday. The intermediate J.C. and the open O.K. dinghy divisions fared best in the easterly conditions and considerable seas. Paul Penney and Paul Hughes claimed third placing on corrected times in their J.C.. being behind one O.K. skipper. Peter Maynard, and ahead of another. Tony Roberts. The line honours xv'ere dominated bx the txxo-man 470 designs. Kevin Welsh and Bernie Whyte led Steve Mander and Ed Ellern b\ Imin 30sec at the end of the seven-mile course. Maynard sailed except i email x well to be fifth of 55 to the finishing line and the world O.K. dinghy title-holder. Peter Lester, was seventh at the helm of a borroxved Laser. Earlier in the day. Lester had been a comfortable winner of the open xvater championship for Lasers.
