Communists had fired automatic weapons at the helicopter as it was coming in to land. It was the second incident involving the Thai royalty in four days. Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, heir to the throne, escaped unhurt from a Communist ambush in northern Thailand on Sunday. The former Prime Minister (Mr Kukrit Pramoj), has expressed shock in his column in the “Siam Rath” newspaper that the Crown Prince had been allowed to get into a position of being attacked by guerrillas. Mr Kukrit said that no Government in the world would allow an heir to the throne to get himself into such a position.
