Sound Barrier will be a reinforcement for the tanks ol Riccarton horses on the West Coast circuit if the track is not heavy for the Gres mouth Jockey Club's meeting on Friday. On his form last month, especially his win in the Can terbury Jockey Club’s Christmas Handicap, Sound Barrier rates earnest con sideration tor the W. R Kettle Memorial, first leg of the T.A.B. double at Omoto He sprinted strongly on the trial grass at Riccarton yesterday, recording 49.9 for 800 metres. Later Cappello and Just a Song were paired to run 800 m in 49. finishing on terms. Cappello will he taken north next Tuesday to complete his preparation for the Wellington Cup. He thrived on his reward ing programme of holiday racing, which produced wins in the Invercargill and Waikouaiti Cups and a second in the Dunedin Gold Cup Manuka Street and Nuriootpa, members of George Humphries’s team being pre-
