Ambulance figures similar
For the St John Ambulance , Association, the end-of-year statistics for 1976 were not! very different to those jm 1975. The fleet of 13 ambulances! at the Christchurch sub-cen- j tre travelled about the same* number of miles (more than 31,000) to a similar number, of vehicle accidents (about I 145). Last month 148 persons, were taken from accidents involving cars and other vehicles and placed in the care of ambulance nurses and drivers.
The ambulances carried more patients in November and December, last year (2608 and 2522 compared with 2074 in December 1975). Numbers of people requiring assistance because of collapses and miscellaneous accidents jumped last month to 226, 22 more than the November figure. However, the number of ; patients injured in other accidents continued to decline. In December 1975, 223 perjsons were dealt with by the St John Ambulance Association. This number fell from 202 to 188 in November and December, last year.
