Gliding 'no contest’
PA Waipukurau Organisers of the Air New Zealand national gliding championships declared yesterday a “no contest” day after tasks for the 42 competitors yesterday morning. Instead of competition some pilots took advantage of local conditions for flights around the: area. Points announced yesterday | after a day’s competition on Monday are:— Open section.—Doug Yarrail (Wellington) and Ivan Evans (Nelson), 770 points: Dudley Water (Dunedin) 742; lan Finlay-1 son (Hamilton) and Bruce Drake! (Christchurch), 616. Standard. —Bruce Fowler (Mata-i mata) 833: Frank Gatland (Auek-1 land) 809: Godfrey I.arsen (Mata-1 mata) 796. Sports.—Dave Goodrick (Hast-i Ings) 733; Bavel Peacock | (Hawke's Bay) 709; Tom liorni (Levin) 593.
