Granada makes big profit
Television in New Zealand may have its financial problems, but the Granada group in Britain has reported a turnover of almost L170.V1. and a profit before tax of £IBM. But unlike TVI and TV2, the group had earn mgs from the television rental business, and this is where three-quarters of the revenue came from. Revenue from television programming was £40,534.000. an increase on the previous year of LB.BM. or 27.8 per cen*. Profit before tax on programming amounted to £4,526.000 which is £I.3M up on the previous year Granada echoes the trend of other major ITV companies in announcing vastly increased profits for the year in a time of inflation and rising costs Bearing in mind the demands made a year or so
