Hastings’ record?
Brian Hastings is well poised to become the most prolific scorer for Canterbury in first-class fixtures before the completion of the present Shell cricket series.
The 115 runs accumulated by Hastings against Otago and Northern Districts this season extended his career aggregate for the province ‘o 3523, only 7 167 fewer than the record held by his Bumside-West-University’ club-mate and former test team-mate. Graham Dowling.
It is also conceivable that Barry Hadlee could reach a notable milestone by joining his father, Walter Hadlee, and Dowling and Hastings as the only players to have totalled more than 3000 runs for Canterbury. Barry 7 Hadlee’s aggregate of 2743 runs places him sixth behind Dowling, Hastings. Walter Hadlee (3081). lan Cromb (2984) and Bill Patrick (2803). and ahead of Keith Thomson (2543).
