"Medical misdeeds exposed”
Sir.—l wish to assure your correspondents (December 27) that I have not fallen into the trap mentioned. I continue to assert that my own hospital experiences have been fortunate, and the moaners have always existed and will continue to exist regardless of staffing. Tin’s exercise is to highlight the bureaucratic control of all hospitals by our real masters, the Treasury. Their attitude compares with the old saw "The poor we will always have with us.” So the Treasury s corollary follows: "The sick and the afflicted will always be a financial burden, so let them and the overworked staff cope as best we can.” >f war were declared tomorrow unlimited money would be available. So let our Government have the guts to tackle the hospital problem with the same urgency. And let us be spared the usual waffling from the Minister of Health as briefed by the Treasury.— Yours, etc.. HARVEY FOSS. December 27, 1976.
