Police pay talks to continue
PA Wellington Senior Government Ministers will meet police officials again today in a continuing attempt to solve the police pay dispute. The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said after the Cabinet meeting last evening that the Government hoped to reach a compromise with the police but was unable to meet the full demand. “The great difficultv we are up against is that to give the police what they are demanding would not only torpedo the wage freeze but would be seen to be doing it in a State organisation, and that is simply not on,” Mr Muldoon said.
