Shoppers again on Christmas spree
Christchurch shoppers are spending more this Christmas on presents than ever before, in spite of the financial uncertainty. Retailers say that this [ Christmas — like others be- j fori it — customers are buy- ] ing and spending more. The manager of the D.I.C. (Mr W. J. Brereton) said that [ all lines were selling well. “Despite the ram, the shop | is crowded. The public is [ spending freely,” he said. Sales of children’s toys i •nd models had been tremendous, said the manager of Kiddey’s Korner, a Christ- ( church toy shop. “Things are booming as far as we are concerned. Even the expens- 1
