Smelter meeting delayed
PA Invercargill Representatives of Comalco, Ltd, and the Government officials committee on power prices will not meet again before Christmas. After a second meeting between the two parties three weeks ago to discuss the ■ price of power to the smelter at Bluff, it was agreed to hold a third meeting before Christmas. The committee has now asked for a postponement to a date, yet to be set, in the New Year. The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) has met company representatives, and it is believed the officials committee has proposed a 600 per cent power price increase for the smelter. This would add just under S3OM to the smelter’s operating costs each year.
