Communist ideologists confer

NZPA-Reuter Vienna Soviet bloc ideologists from nine countries are com ferring in Sofia, Bulgaria, apparently laying plans for a new counter-reformatioij against the heresies of West European Communist pan ties.

A keynote speech by a senior Bulgarian official singled out “Eurocommunism” as the target of a new ideological drive, and said that Moscow was still the centre of the Communist movement.

The attack on Eurocom< munism by the Bulgarian party secretary, Mr Alexander Lilov, came at the beginning of an ideological conference in the Bulgarian capital. Extracts from his speech were reported by the news agency, B.T.A.

Mr Lilov said that the system existing in the So* viet bloc was “real socialism” — a term he described as a key category in Mar-; xist-Leninist theory, that proved reformist Eurocommunist ideas were incorrect.

"Criticism of this concept does not mean criticism or struggle against some West European Communist parties, but against bourgeois ideology, which has circulated and noisily advertised the fabricated concept of Euro-communism,” Mr Lilov said.
