Members of the Bishopdale Senior Citizens Choir wait expectantly for the number of a winning raffle ticket, announced during a sing-along afternoon at the Caledonian Hall yesterday. About 400 senior citizens attended the final sing-along of the year to

see two members of the West Spreyon Senior Citizents Club, Mr and Mrs C. Manson, judged “Queen” and "Prince Consort” of the carnival. They were presented with two Midland bus tickets to Dunedin by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs H. G. Hay).

Mr and Mrs Manson won the afternoon’s competitions — which included a contest to fashion garments out of old newspapers — from four other finalists, who were presented with consolation prizes of tickets for twilight bus tours of Christchurch.

The sing-alongs, spouse -ed Ly the Aged People’s Welfare Council, have been held once a fortnight for the last six months, organised by Mr R. Lewis. The Bishopdale Senior Citizens Choir was the guest entertainer yesterday.
