Forty years as Anglican priest

I The Rev. H. F. Ault will {celebrate the fortieth anniversary of his ordination to I the Anglican priesthood on {December 21.

i Before being ordained, Mr Ault gained a master of arts at the Canterbury University ■ College- During this time> he . reported univerity activities for “The Press,” and his interest in writing has remained with him throughout his years in the ministry. He distinguished himself as a sportsman during his years at university, becoming three-mile harrier champion of Canterbury.

After his ordination, Mr Ault spent several years in (Christchurch parishes before leaving for London, where he studied at the School of Oriental Studies for six months. He left for India in 1928 and spent five years there, three of them as principal of the Church Missionary High School in Karachi. He was married in Karachi in 1929. On his return to New Zealand, Mr Ault served as vicar of Oxford. From 1938 to 1943, he was an organising secretary on the Anglican Board of Missions. After this, he served in

[the parishes of SoutbridgeLeeston, Akaroa, Nelson, and Hinds-Longbeach. From 1947 io 1966, he was an examiner for the Anglican Board of Theological Studies,

Mr Ault has written histories of the parishes of Akaroa; All Saints, Nelson; Hinds-Longbeach, and a history of the diocese of Nelson. He has also w'ritten a book of religious verse. He retired in 1968.
