H | B)| MANAGER NEW ZEALAND STEEL MINING, LTD, TAHAROA. A MANAGER OF onshore and offshore operations is being sought to direct, the complete activities at Taharoa, south of Kawhia. The sandraining operation uses a 750 T per hour dredge and a concentration plant to which is being added a dry sandmining plant serviced by bulldozers. Employees number approximately 100 yvith appropriately qualified engineers and other professional supervisors. New Zealand Steel Mining at Taharoa was formed in 1972 as a subsidiary company of Neyv Zealand Steel, Ltd. to mine and concentrate the ironsand deposits to meet Japanese market contracts. This year the project is expanding to 2.1 million saleable tonnes and a capital expenditure is commencing which will exceed $l6 million. This project is being controlled separately but is proceeding alongside the existing dredge and landbased operation. The present manager has been reassigned to join the project group. The successful appointee must have had managing experience of multiple functions, probably would be qualified in some technical discipline but not essential. He must be able to handle costs, and build the present competent workforce into an effective team.
