Wingatui rivals look top quinella prospects
Another clash between Art World and Southern Light in the Vincent Handicap should be one of the features of the racing at Wingatui today.
This combination should be a sound investment for both on and off-course quinella bettors at the Otago Racing Club’s meeting. The last time these two met was at. the New Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton last month. In two starts there Art World was unbeaten and in each of those races
Southern Light had to settle; for a minor placing. Art World has not raced meanwhile but Southern Light has put two more wins on an impressive record —i he has now won four — ini as many starts since his No-i vember campaign at Riccar- i ton. A brilliant late run brought! Southern Light success; against the class-three and ! four sprinters at the Beau-1 mont meeting a fortnight ago! and he was just as impres-l sive in beating the metric; milers in the Mona Vale! Plate at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting last Saturday.
si If Royal Dell is going to be one of the brightest prosI pects in the Dunedin Gold i Cup on Boxing Day he will > need to win or. at least go ■ close in the Dunedin Jockey i! Club Handicap, second leg of • j today’s T.A.B. double. j This will be the very capable Washdyke stayer’s first :j race since he returned from ; an unsuccessful spring camjpaign |n Australia. ■i The combined efforts of i! Waronui, Soldier Girl and ■lCandyboy are expected to j give Wingatui stables a clean; ' sweep in the first leg of the; i double, the James Hazlett I Stakes.
