Record for Rolls

One thousand RollsRoyce cars were delivered to United States buyers in the first 10 months of this year. This was a record for the independent British specialist car maker, and more than the 865 United States sales for the whole of 1975. More than half of these were for the company’s higher-priced models — 395 long-wheelbase Silver Shadows, 116 Corniche two-door saloons and convertibles and 25 of the $90,000 Camargues. The four-door, $39,000 Silver Shadows accounted for 464 sales.

Announcing the new sales record the RollsRoyce Motors group managing director, Mr David Plastow, said he confidently expected sales of nearly 1200 Rolls-Royces worth S6OM retail in the United States by the end of 1976. The United States market accounts for about 29 per cent of all the company’s car sales and nearly half of total exports.
