New map to aid pilots
Pilots flying between airports on almost all major New Zealand routes will need only one sheet now that the Lands and Survey Department has released a new map which covers the country in four overlapping sheets. It will replace the previous map on this scale, required from New Zealand as a member of the International Civil! Aviation Organisation. This! map was broken up into: seven charts. The new medium-scale map series is designed primarilyfor pilots, and has a scale of 1:500.000. Spot heights and contours are shown in feet. The maps are available as! topographical maps through ■ the mapping agencies for: $1.50 a sheet. They are also! available from the Civil Avia-1 tion Division of the Ministryof Transport. !
