PA Auckland New Zealand won its first championship title in international bridge on Wednesday night with a victory in the final round of the women’s contest in the Far East tournament. In the vital matches of the round. New Zealand defeated the Philippines, 75 to 45. and Australia defeated Japan 62 to 43. The final victory points tally at the top of the ladder were: New Zealand 98.13. 1; Japan 88.49. 2: Philippines 83.29, 3; Australia 81.67. 4.
