Promoting Chch a full-time post
Someone will be given the full-time post of promoting Christchurch as a convention centre — to take over the planning and establishment of the Christchurch Convention Bureau. The Christchurch Town Hall Board of Management agreed to such an appointment at its meeting yesterday. The basic planning of the bureau is at present being done by the Town
Hall Manager (Mr B. P. Connell). The person appointed would work solely for the bureau until it was fully established, and would then devote time to both conference organising and Town Hall promotion work, said the chairman (Mr H. G. Hay). The appointment would be to the staff of the Town Hall, and would continue to be thb main annual commitment by the board to the bureau, Mr Hay said.
