Forecast: Marlborough, Nelson: Fresh to strong north to northwest winds; fine and warm in central Marlborough and on the Kaikoura coast, cloudy elsewhere, with periods of rain in Nelson and some showers about
the Sounds from afternoon. Buller, Westland: Fresh north to north-west winds backing west or south-west; rain easing to scattered showers: becoming cooler. Canterbury: Strong northwesterlies inland, spreading to the coast at times; rain in the western ranges; fine and very warm elsewhere, but with considerable high cloud. Outlook: Mainly fair.
