The unaudited group netjl profit of Bridgevale Consoli--dated, Ltd rose 39.7 per cent; to $18,300 in the six months: to September 30, says the : chairman (Mr T. M. Scanlon) in a report to shareholders. Sales increased 6.2 per cent to $561,000. The profit was after providing $14,900 for taxation, compared with $260 pre-i viously. Both coalmining and transport activities showed: improved profits during the: half-year, Mr Scanlon says. “The mining division hasi
ben efitted from increases in both the volume and the price of coal, and although : the transport division is now i trading on a reduced scale, ! the result was pleasing. “The motor division had an unsatisfactory half-year. The inadequacy of the range of vehicles available, restrictions on the sale of new ve s I hides on hire purchase, and I trading conditions in the i motor industry have pre- ■ vented the division from i achieving the volume of i sales required,” Mr Scanlon i says.
