NOISE TEST
The new GS4OO fourstroke Suzuki is a relatively quiet machine in spite of its very adequate performance. For the six pass-by noise measurements taken by the Ministry of Transport’s noise control officer, Mr R. W. Wright, the new Suzuki averaged 81.33dbA. This is considerably better than its stablemate, the Suzuki GT3BO two-stroke, and well inside the 86dbA which is expected to be gazetted as the maximum allowable volume early
next year. It is also considerably better than achieved by the Christchurch Transport Board’s buses.
A bus w’hich happened to trundle through the noise measuring area during the tests recorded 85.5dbA. And the bus w 7 as not under maximum power as the motor-cycle was.
The six recordings taken on the motor-cycle were: 80, 81.5, 82, 81.5, 81.5, 81.5dbA.
