Urgency seen
The conclusions on places for immediate growth are such that a wide range of actions is needed to achieve them, says the Canterbury Regional Planning Authority’s indicative plan for the grow’th of its district. The plan sees the issues as too urgent to await local government reform, and says that in any case, the objectives can be reached under present legislation. The Local Government Commission should be made aware of the proposals, and it is assumed that the final form of regional government will reinforce die proposals. Much of the plan ts taken up with detail requirements for local body compliance with the proposals, but the point is made that the plan must receive Government acceptance,
