P A Masterton The Montreal Olympians John Coutts. Monique Rodahl and Rebecca Perrott accounted for five of nine New Zealand records set at the North Island swimming and diving championships at i Masterton at the week-end. Miss Rodahl also equalled ■ a New Zealand record. John Coutts broke three New Zealand records, including one that had stood i for 10 years. Coutts (Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay) swam the open 220" yards butterfly in 2 min 11 sec, one second faster than the New Zealand record set by Dave Gerrard (Auckland) in 1966. He also broke the New Zealand records for the open 220 yards freestyle and senior 110 yards butterfly and picked ub a fourth North Island title in the senior 110 yards freestyle. Monique Rodahl (Auckland) established a New Zealand record in the open 220 yards backstroke, equalled her New Zealand record in the senior 110 yards backstroke and also took the senior and open medley titles.

Rebecca Perrott (Wellington) established a New Zealand junior record in the open 440 yards freestyle and also won the under 16 titles for the 110 yards butterfly and 110 yards freestyle.
