Walk to honour early settlers
Christchurch people will be able to follow in the footsteps of the Canterbury early sellers on Sunday. The Bridle Path Commemorative Walk, organised by the Lyttelton Borough Council, will give families, couples, and everybody else the chance to get out and enjoy the eye-catching views on both sides of the Port Hills. Those who complete the walk will receive a certificate. “It is an endeavour to [make the public, young and jold, more aware that we do have a provincial Anniversary Day which has become somewhat lost in the general rush surrounding Christmas,” said the Mayor of Lyttelton, Mr J. B. Collett. The commemorative walk is held each year to mark the Anniversary Day, which honours the arrival of the first
