Corso has new secretary

Mr C. W. S. Truell, a Wanganui secondary schoolteacher, has been appointed general secretary of Corso. Mr Truell, who is head of the geography department of Wanganui Boys College, will take up his position next year. He has been teaching since he came to New Zealand from Ireland 10 years ago. During World War II he served with the British Army in North Africa, Italy, and Europe. He was a schoolteacher until 1955, when he became general manager and then director of a British company in Singapore. Mr Truell has been associated with organisations promoting the welfare and rights of underprivileged people in many countries. He has travelled extensively in Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific.

Announcing the appointment, the national chairman lof Corso (the Rev. J. Healio-n) I said that Mr Trueil’s appointment marked the final stage iof the restructuring of Corso I under its new constitution. I Individual membership had been introduced, regional coi operation and consultation I developed, staff had been reduced, and a new programme based on the United Nations Habitat, theme of “The Living Village” had been launched, he said.
