Interest in N.A.F.T.A. 'flagging'
PA Auckland A recent setback for New Zealand leathergood* export? to Australia and “reaction in Canberra’' indicates that interest there in the New Zealand and Australia 1 tee Trade Agreement is flagging. The Associate Minister of Finance (Mr Wilkinson) expressed this view when opening new premises for an office typewriter company in Grey Lynn. Groundwork was connnuing in preparation for joint Ministerial talks on N.A.F.T A. in Apr;’, a difficult road hut lone which had to be followed, he said. Commenting on the com. pany’s success in selling, particularly in the United States, Mr Wilkinson said that it had taken year* to build into the minds of New Zealanders that they were capable of selling overseas jin sophisticated markets. The chairman of directors lof the typewriter company KMr D. B. Carnacham recalled that the company, -stabiished in 1910, was once limited to selling car. bon paper, typewriter ribbons, and paper. 1 odav, it could supply all items of stationery, and claimed that pts copying equipment ha| jno superior.
