Top job to Chch man
The programme manager for TV2 in Christchurch, Mr Rod Cornelius, has been appointed to one of the top posts in the network. He will become head of information programmes, an Auckland posting that next year, under the reorganised news system, will also take in current affairs as well as sport, religious, documentary, and service programmes.
Mr Cornelius, who is now 38. began work in broadcasting in 1963 as a production assistant and served as executive producer in both Dunedin (1970) and Auckland (1970-74) for the old N.Z.B.C. before becoming station manager of CHTV3 in the last stages of the N.Z.B.C.’s existence.
With the setting up of TV2 he became programme manager in Christchurch, in charge of all TV2 operations in the city. His new position has been vacant for several weeks since the resignation of the former “News at Ten” editor, Mr Tom Finlayson.-
