Trainer has three sound prospects at Washdyke

The Halsvvell trainer, Royce Court, will produce three runners—First Encounter, Chaka and Glentara—at the’Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting at Washdyke today. If all produce peak runs, they should extend the fine record they compiled at Orari on November 29, when First Encounter and Glentara won and Chaka finished second.

Chaka finished solidly to beat all but American Chief in the Geraldine Cup and he will have to improve very little to come out on top in the Highfield Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double. Sail Again, a useful fourth at Addington Raceway on Saturday night, has been reasonably consistent this season and he looks capable of further success. He could be the one to trouble Chaka, while American Chief’s stablemate. Warragamba. will also be in demand. Warragamba finished a good second to Regal Light at the New Brighton meeting. He. too, has been consistent and should take beating. Rigid shaped like an improver when sixth on Saturday, and along with Miss Pert, Olgar Korbut and Monarque, he appeals most of the others. Glentara might find Kiwi Kid more than a match in th > second leg. the West End Handicap, a race in which the chances of Charlie Wood. Sherry Lane, Arum Bay. Yankee Transit and Royal Vacation could show up. First Encounter, a graduate from maiden company at Orari. is in the First Grantlea Handicap, the final leg of the on-course treble. Overcheck and Wanda Bye could be the hardest for him to head. The First Ashbury Handicap and the Marchwiel Handicap are the other legs of this treble.
