Surf skis travel 25km
About $l5OO is expected to be raised by the Waimairi Surf Life-savmg Club as a result of its sponsored “skiathon” yesterday. Money raised will be used to purchase rescue equipment.
Twenty-two competitors on surf skis left Port Levy for the 25km journey to Waimain. One skier suffered cramp and had to be replaced. but all others finished in an average time of three hours.
Conditions for the “skiathon” were favourable.
