Basketbailer to retire
The 6ft 7in former New Zealand basketball centre. Rodger Millard (Y.M.C.A.), has decided to retire from serious basketball. This has been prompted by his failure to gain a place in the recent national trials and his forthcoming transfer to Haast. A police constable. Millard is only 27, and is by no means a spent force, so that his retirement could be considered premature. But he is a keen tramper and shooter, which activities should prove more suitable during his three years in charge of the police station at Haast. Millard plaved more than 100 matches for Canterbury; in the nine years from 1967., He represented New Zealand in 1972 and 1973. Cricket.— An International XI. won Its second 40-over one-day match against Pakistan bv 30 runs in Rawalpindi. Final scores:; International XI 219 for six and; Pakistan 189 all out. I
