The resinated wood fibre is deposited on the conveyor belt in various layers of thickness, dependent on the thickness of sheet required. For a •’-inch sheet of customwood the required size of layer is 22 inches. In the photograph’ C.T.P.’s production manager (Mr Murray Sturgeon) shows a smalt slab of finished “customwood” next to the layer of wood fibre required tc achieve this thickness before washing and compressing. While the wood fibre layer is very soft and springy, the finished product is very compact, hard, and close-grained.
