Sydney reaches new low
Sustained selling pressure pushed the Sydney sharemarket to its lowest level for the year yesterday. Mirroring the bearish mar|ket tone, the all-ordinaries share price index dropped to a new low. Peko-Wallsend recorded one of the heaviest losses at 470 c, down 25c and Pancontinental eased 10c to 1030 c. Kathleen, C.R.A., A.M.S. and Hamersley lost 5c each, but Queensland Mines went against the general trend and closed 5c up! at 230 c.
Ampol Ex, and WoodsideBurmah were marginally firmer, but Bougainville, M.1.M., Utah and W.M.C. eased. On the industrial boards BHP was traded ex dividend, and closed at a low of 680 c. EZ Industries slumped 15c at 310 c in sympathy with Peko-Wallsend and Myers, A.P.M., and the B.N.S.W. rights showed losses ranging up to 5c each.
