Meeting on teachers
The committee on the registration, discipline, and professional status of teachers has held its first meeting. It will meet again on November 30. Its sittings will be open to the public. The committee’s main task is to draft a disciplinary procedure to replace the several unco-ordinated systems that at present make recommendations on improving the professional status of teachers and on giving them greater control of their own profession. It aims also to establish a system of registration of teachers. Submissions are invited from organisations and persons, and should be addressed to the secretary of the committee at the Department of Education.
