Wide net catches man
PA Invercargill A man will appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Invercargill today in connection with the alleged robbery of a crippled Riverton woman at her home on Saturday. Police and Ministry of Transport men were brought in patrol cars to search the surrounding districts, after the woman had telephoned the Riverton police and said that she had been robbed of $lO in cash. No weapon was involved. Policemen from Invercargill, Otautau, Riverton, and Tuatapere were joined by traffic officers from as far afield as Invercargill, Riverton, and Lumsden, in their search. A man was apprehended near Orawia at 4.45 p.m. He was in possession of a 1968 Austin 1100 car reported missing from Dunedin on October 3. The man, who is 32, and is from Dunedin, will also be charged with the theft of this vehicle.
