Sydney races called off
NZPA Sydney Poor visibility caused the cancellation of racing at Randwick on Saturday after the first two events on the seven-race card. Steady rain in Sydney, which had left the track heavy, but safe, was continuing during the meeting, and the decision to stop racing followed a jockey’s protest.
The $BOOO City Tattersall’s Cup (2000 metres), in which the topweight, New Zealand-bred Purple Patch had been scratched because of the track, will now be run on Wednesday. The other four races not run on Saturday have been abandond.
