Escaper caught
PA Wellington ; Six young men who (escaped from the Whakatane Police Station cells on Tues day evening after attacking a constable on duty were all back in custody soon after midnight when two were caught in Whakatane and four near Rotorua. Constable R. J. Price, the man the prisoners assaulted, suffered severe bruising and underwent X-ray checks at the Whakatane Hospital Four of those who escaped • had earlier in the dav been •committed for trial on (charges of rape, attempted rape, and car conversion, and had been remanded in custody.
