Radio series on Islanders
A six-week radio series on Pacific Islanders will start today. Produced by the Radio New Zealand continuing education unitp, the series will look at Island life and examine adjustments that have to be made by Polynesian immigrants in New Zealand. The programmes may help the listener understand the reasons for misunderstandings between Pacific Islanders and European New Zealanders, says a statement from the unit. The producer of the programme, Pam Carson, has interviewed many migrants about the life they have left and the country they have come to. A brochure to accompany the series contains an article and map and shows how to obtain tapes of the series for educational purposes. The programmes will be broadcast from 8.45 p.m. to 9.15 p.m.
