Ministry of Transport, invites applications for caerer training in aeronautical ground communications. AGE: On January 1, 1977, applicants must be at least 16, but under 19 years of age. MINIMUM EDUCATION: Department of Education standard for entry to Form VI. preferably with passes in English and mathematics; students sitting this year may also be considered. MEDICAL FITNESS. Applicants will be required to pass a preentry medical examination INTERVIEWS: Selection interviews will be conducted in Auckland. Wellington and Christchurch during November. 1976. DATE OF ENTRY: Jan. 31, 1977. TRAINING: Successful applicants attend a departmental course of instruction from January to November, 1977, covering communications operating practices and procedures and allied subjects to communicator qualifying standard. After graduation practical familiarisation training will be given in either Auckland. Wellington or Christchurch Communications Centres, prior to posting to full operational duties which initially will be to one of the Communications Centres. During the third year of operational service Cadets attend a second formal training course of tuition for completion of the Communications Officer qualification which is a pre-requisite for advancement to supervisory positions. Both the above courses are held at the Ministry’s Aeronautical College. Christchurch International Airport Hostel accommodation is not available and cadets will be required to make their own arrangements. However, for the first week, cadets are accommodated at Ministry expense. SALARY: Commencing salarv m accordance with educational qualifications related to the Public Service scale. Salary is supplemented by penal rates and shift allowances for work on week-ends and at night. PROMOTION: There are good prospects for promotion on a competitive basis Cadets will be bonded on entry to serve in the New Zealand Public Service for a period of three years from the date of completion of their initial training course in 1977.
