1 Situations Vacant SOUTHLAND HIGH SCHOOLS’ BOARD MANAGER COLDSTREAM HOSTEL APPLICATIONS are called for the position of Manager of the Coldstream Boarding Hostel. Lees Street, Invercargill, which accommodates approximately 95 boys attending either the Southland Boys* High School or the James Hargest High School. DUTIES: The duties of the Manager include the supervision of a .Matron, two full-time Cooks,l a Groundsman and several other part-time domestic and. kitchen staff. The Manager is responsible for implementing High Schools’ Board policy as it affects the operation of the Hostel, looking after the day to day management, and exercising strict financial control of available funds. The successful applicant, will also need to resume responsibility for menus and all catering requirements. The discipline of both the staff and boarders is also the responsibility of the Manager who will be required to attend and submit monthly reports to the Board's Hostels Sub-committee on all aspects of the hostel operation. Applicants should feel confident to deal with young persons between the ages of 13 and 18 years and to establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with parents. Ability to handle minor day to day running maintenance would be an advantage. SALARY: Salary for the position is based on the Private Hotel Workers' Award and a generous salary together with allowances is paid, ACCOMMODATION: Residential or fiat accommodation is available at; minimal rental. A part-time position would also be available to a suitable wife or husband of the successful applicant as a supervisor or housemaster and it is expected that the position would appeal to a married couple.
